Hey everyone,
I'm going to be real with you. Most accountability advice for entrepreneurs does not work for nomads.
I'm a digital nomad founder based in Barcelona, running multiple online businesses. Over the past year I've tested pretty much every accountability system out there. Here's what I learned.
Traditional productivity advice assumes a stable environment. Fixed schedule. Reliable internet. Same time zone every day. A commute that acts as a mental transition between work and free time. None of that exists when you live like a nomad.
So here are the 3 things that actually made a difference for me:
1. Public commitment instead of private goals. Posting what you will do and by when on a channel where others can see it completely changes the game. Social pressure beats motivation every time.
2. Time zone aware accountability. Having an accountability partner in a compatible time zone means you can actually have real time check ins instead of leaving 24h delayed messages in Slack.
3. Micro accountability loops. Instead of planning your whole week on Sunday, I check in with a small group every morning for 15 minutes. 3 wins from yesterday, 3 commitments for today. Done. No hour long planning sessions.
I'm currently building a small accountability pod specifically for nomad founders. If you are struggling with the same thing and want in, feel free to reach out or drop a comment below.
I'm based in Barcelona right now but travel frequently. Would love to hear what has and has not worked for you.
