Is this the end of cheap flights?

Hey Freaking Nomads,
If you’ve searched for flights recently, you’ve probably noticed ticket prices are climbing.
Jet fuel prices have been rising as tensions and conflict in the Middle East ripple through global energy markets, and Moody’s recently warned that higher fuel costs could squeeze airline profits and push fares even higher.
The human consequences of conflicts like these matter far more than what we pay for flights. There's no question about that.
But when your life is built around crossing borders every few weeks or months, it’s hard not to notice the ripple effects.
If you're like me, you might still have that part of your brain that wants to plan everything months ahead.
But with prices swinging wildly, and entire regions (sometimes a whole hemisphere) suddenly becoming more complicated to travel through, I’m changing my strategy a little.
Instead of bouncing between continents like I sometimes do, I’ll probably stay within the same region for longer.
Since my base is currently in Europe, that likely means sticking around this side of the world for a while, or possibly heading west to the Americas for a longer period of time. Simply because flying east could become trickier with major airports in the Gulf region, like Dubai or Doha, facing significant disruptions and instability.
I’m already looking more seriously at trains, buses, and slower travel across Europe. And I’m even flirting with the idea of renting a camper van or doing some car camping this summer.
But now I’m curious about you.
How are you planning your travels right now?
Are you booking flights early before prices climb even more?
Sticking to one region for a while?
Or embracing the chaos and deciding everything last minute?
Hit reply and tell me.
Until next time,
Irene
