Colive Fukuoka 2025: Japan’s hottest nomad event returns this October

If Japan’s on your radar this year, Colive Fukuoka could be the perfect way to experience it as a digital nomad.
From October 1 to 31, 2025, a group of nomads, entrepreneurs, and creatives will be heading to Fukuoka, a dynamic city in southern Japan that’s quickly making a name for itself as a hub for innovation, startups, and remote work.
Unlike your typical nomad event or meetup, this isn’t something you just attend. You actually live in the city for a full month. You’re immersed in local culture, building connections, joining events, exploring new ideas, and maybe even considering Japan as your next base.
What's on the Program
The heart of it all is a month-long coliving program. You’ll live alongside other international participants, connect with locals, and get a feel for what long-term life in Japan could actually look like.
As Ryo Osera, CEO of yugyo inc. and one of the minds behind the event, puts it:
“You meet people here you can’t meet anywhere else. It’s not just about work, it’s about truly feeling part of something.”
Here’s what else is happening throughout October:
- Colive Fukuoka Summit (Oct 1–3): A two-day gathering with talks on digital nomadism, entrepreneurship, global mobility, and Japanese philosophies like Ikigai and Do (道). Nomads, founders, investors, and locals come together to exchange ideas and imagine what the future of global living could look like.
- Synapse Festival (Oct 4): A one-day art and wellness event designed to help you recharge and reconnect with your senses.
- RAMEN TECH (Oct 5–12): Japan’s biggest regional startup showcase, bringing together 4,000+ attendees for pitches, demos, and global networking.
- Side events & cultural excursions (Oct 6–10): Traditional tea ceremonies, cultural workshops, local meetups, and slow travel experiences that give you a real feel for life in Fukuoka.

Why Fukuoka?
While cities like Tokyo and Kyoto get most of the international spotlight, Fukuoka is becoming a favorite among nomads and founders alike. It’s compact, coastal, well-connected, and full of creative energy, without the overwhelm.
It's also one of the few cities in Japan actively working to welcome remote professionals, without falling into the trap of overtourism.
This year’s Colive Fukuoka is focused on:
- Encouraging longer stays and more meaningful connections
- Building bridges between startups and remote talent
- Supporting cultural exchange with locals and international students
- Revitalizing unused spaces, like vacant homes and community venues
