Starting February 2026, Egypt’s international airports will officially phase out paper immigration cards and switch to a fully digital entry system.

The change means travelers will no longer need to fill out the traditional paper “passport card” on arrival. Instead, immigration checks will rely entirely on the data already stored in travelers’ passports, processed electronically.

The goal is to achieve shorter queues, faster processing, and smoother arrivals, especially during peak travel seasons. The digital system is also designed to align Egypt’s border controls with international standards.

This update is part of a broader push to modernize Egypt’s airport infrastructure and security systems. It also complements plans to equip all airports with full electronic visa capabilities by 2026, supporting the government’s tourism strategy, which aims to attract 30 million tourists.

With many European and North American countries already using digital immigration systems, Egypt’s move marks a significant step toward a faster, more modern travel experience for international visitors.
