San José del Cabo, best known as the relaxed counterpart to Cabo San Lucas, is starting to draw attention from a new crowd: digital nomads.

The town has quietly upgraded its internet infrastructure in recent years, with fiber optic now common in many neighborhoods. That, combined with the opening of coworking spots like Colab in downtown and Koral Desk along the Tourist Corridor, has made San José a far easier place for remote workers to set up shop.

Unlike its louder, party-focused neighbor, San José leans on culture and wellness to appeal to long-term visitors. Its art galleries, farmers markets, and Thursday night Art Walk give it a more authentic feel, while yoga studios, healthy cafés, and massage centers cater to the lifestyle many nomads look for. Plus, swimmable beaches like Playa Palmilla and surf breaks at Costa Azul make this location even more appealing to location-independent professionals.

The community is still small compared to hubs like Playa del Carmen, Mexico City, or Oaxaca, but it’s growing fast. For now, San José del Cabo feels like a hidden gem in Mexico, though probably not for long.
