The oil crisis just made remote work cool again

Hey Freaking Nomads,
So apparently remote working is back in fashion.
The IEA (International Energy Agency) just published an emergency plan to deal with the global oil crisis. The Strait of Hormuz is blocked, crude is over $100 a barrel, and governments are, of course, scrambling.
And their number one recommendation is to work from home.
I'll be honest, I had to read that twice.
The same governments that spent the last two years dragging people back to the office with all kinds of "productivity" justifications are now telling those same people to please, please work remotely.
Not because remote work is better or people deserve flexibility. But because there just isn't enough fuel to go around.
The way I see it, the world keeps rediscovering remote work every time something breaks. COVID broke it. Now an oil crisis is breaking it again. Each time, millions of people get a taste, and a lot of them don't want to give it back.
That's actually good news for us.
Not because nomads "win," but because every wave of forced remote work builds infrastructure, normalizes the idea, and creates more employers willing to hire people who aren't tied to a desk in a specific city.
In a way, nomads simply got here first.
Until next week,
Irene

For an embarrassingly long time, I used to have an unlocked note called "passwords" on my phone.
I was a freelancer back then and I got locked out of a client account at 11pm with a deadline the next morning. Never again.
1Password stores all your logins, generates strong passwords so you're not using the same one everywhere, and syncs across all your devices. It also alerts you if any of your accounts show up in a data breach, which is the kind of thing you really don't want to find out about after the fact.
As a nomad, the last thing you need is a security headache on top of everything else. This one's just worth having.
