You weren't made to sit still
Hey Freaking Nomads,
When I was a kid, I was loud. Like really loud.
I was that hyperactive child who’d talk to anyone, climb everything, and say “why not?” before asking “why.” I was bold. Messy. Rebellious. The kind of kid who couldn’t sit still for more than five minutes without inventing a new game or turning a boring task into an adventure.
But somewhere along the way, life asked me to quiet down. To behave. To fit in.
Like many of us, I got the memo, spoken or unspoken, that I needed to calm down. That being “too much” wasn’t cute anymore. That obedience was easier. That success came to those who followed the path, kept quiet, sat still, and colored inside the lines. So I did what I was told. I got good at being good.
But somewhere deep down, I missed that messy, rebellious, fearless little girl who didn’t care what people thought.
Becoming a digital nomad wasn’t just a career shift or a lifestyle experiment. For me, it was a way back. A return to the version of me that I’d buried under expectations and rules. It reminded me that life doesn’t have to be constantly justified. It can just be… fun.
It can look like changing countries every few weeks. Getting lost on purpose. Sitting in a café for hours talking to someone you just met. Dancing in the kitchen of a shared Airbnb. Laughing so hard you cry with people you only met last week. Pausing because you feel everything: loneliness, joy, gratitude, all at once — and it’s a lot, but it’s real.
To be a nomad, for me, is to reclaim my right to be wild and curious again. To talk too loud. To change my mind. To make something up just because it feels good. It’s not just about freedom from location… it’s freedom to be fully you again.
So if you’ve been feeling a bit lost, burnt out, or like you’re just ticking boxes, here’s your gentle reminder: your inner child is still in there. She’s wild. She’s wise. And she’s waiting.
Go say hi.
