Jetpac Europe eSIM Review: The Most Convenient eSIM for Europe?

Jetpac Europe eSIM Review: The Most Convenient eSIM for Europe?

The dawn of the eSIM was a real changing point for digital nomads. Gaining traction in 2016, it wasn’t until the launch of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR in late 2018 that the tech really took off.

These handy embedded cards remove the need for a physical SIM card and the headaches that come with them. There’s no more haggling for SIMs in the airport arrivals. No more struggling with signal-less Google Maps. No more airport taxi scams. No unexpected roaming charges. It simply makes everything better.

Of the various eSIM providers out there, Jetpac stands as one of the most interesting. Backed by Singapore tech-giant “Circles”, the eSIMs offer much more than a way to access data abroad. You can gain airport lounge access for delayed flights and find discounts for VPNs with their eSIMs.

In this article, we’ll share our experience with the Jetpac eSIM for Europe. We’ll review what the eSIM has to offer, the pros and cons of the eSIM, and we’ll share great alternatives for digital nomads.

Using Jetpac’s Europe eSIM: Our Experience

Digital nomad holding a phone with Jetpac website

There’s no better way of testing an eSIM than getting out in the field and taking your own readings.

For the Jetpac Europe eSIM, that’s exactly what we did - traveling between Rome, Sofia, and Berlin. The details of which are listed in the table below:

Location Speed Connection details
Rome 62.72 Mbps (download) / 11.96 Mbps (upload) Reliable speeds, though you might experience slowdowns in busy areas
Sofia 139.54 Mbps (download) / 29.03 Mbps (upload) Fast and stable connection, with excellent performance across the city
Berlin 92.42 Mbps (download) / 13.33 Mbps (upload) Consistent speeds, ensuring a reliable connection in most neighborhoods

We were blown away by the performance of the Jetpac eSIM throughout Europe, seeing download speeds of around 140 Mbps and upload speeds of almost 30 Mbps. For a mobile data package, that’s huge and helped enormously with the day-to-day tasks of digital nomads.

We found fast, consistent, and stable connections throughout Rome, Sofia, and Berlin. There was a slight drop in performance in the busiest tourist hotspot - as you may expect - but we were overall very pleased with the eSIM performance.

Are There any Alternatives to Jetpac in Europe?

Jetpac often proves a great choice for digital nomads, but it’s not the only eSIM provider on the market. There are a handful of other good eSIM brands that are well-suited for Europe.

Airalo

Airalo eSIM

Airalo is a direct competitor to Jetpac, offering various packages that users can browse and purchase to fit their trip.

For Europe, users can choose an eSIM spanning between 7 and 180 days with a data allowance between 1 GB and 100 GB.

Compared to the Jetpac eSIM, Airalo actually covers a wider range of countries - a total of 39 compared to 28. It is, however, more expensive than the Jetpac eSIM.

For example, a 30-day eSIM with Airalo will offer just 10 GB for $37.00. With Jetpac, the 30-day offers are 20 GB for $34.00 or 30 GB for $40.

Holafly

Holafly eSIM

As another powerful eSIM on the market, the Holafly Europe eSIM offers unlimited data across all of its packages.

Instead of choosing a pack that’s right for you, Holafly only requests the trip length to price up your packages.

With an exclusive offer of unlimited data, it’ll come as no surprise that Holafly is expensive. A 30-day unlimited eSIM costs a cool $75.00 with the provider. Although Jetpac cannot offer unlimited packages, their largest 30-day pack at 40 GB costs just $60.00.

If you’re big on using data for work, play, and travel, Holafly is worth the extra cash. But if you’re unlikely to surpass Jetpac’s 40 GB limit, the extra funds are better off in your wallet.

Jetpac Europe eSIM Review: The Bottom Line

Digital nomad looking at Jetpac Europe eSIM on a phone

There are a handful of really impressive eSIM providers out there, and we have no problem throwing the Jetpac name into the ring with them.

With cost-effective data packages and great coverage in Europe (28 countries), digital nomads will be free to roam the Schengen with a single digital SIM. A maximum data package size of 40 GB for 30 days should be definitely enough for most international travelers.

The eSIMs are easy to install via QR code and the app makes it easier than ever to top-up when data is running low. For stays of 30 days or less in the European region, Jetpac is one of our top recommended providers.
