Spain’s Digital Nomad Visa just got more tempting (and pricier) in 2025

Spain has updated its Digital Nomad Visa for 2025 by increasing income thresholds, extending the renewal period, and streamlining applications.
The minimum income requirement, tied to the national minimum wage (SMI), has increased by 4.4% in 2025. Individual applicants must now show a gross monthly income of at least €2,762, couples €3,798, and an additional €346 per dependent child. For a family of three, the requirement is €4,144.
Minister of Labour Yolanda Díaz stated:
“The 2025 minimum wage increase reflects our commitment to improving living standards and ensuring that digital nomads contribute positively to our economy.”
The visa renewal period has been extended from three to four years, providing greater stability for long-term remote workers. Spain has also introduced standardized documentation formats and digital platforms to simplify applications and reduce processing times.
Visa holders can now earn up to 20% of their total income from Spanish clients, offering more flexibility while still requiring the majority of income to come from non-Spanish sources.
The Beckham Law continues to provide tax benefits, allowing foreign workers to opt for a flat 24% tax rate on income up to €600,000.
To qualify, applicants need a valid passport (minimum 12-month validity), proof of remote work, a university degree or three years of professional experience, private health insurance, and a clean criminal record. Freelancers and entrepreneurs with international clients are also eligible.
