It’s OK to get comfortable

If there’s one mantra you hear a lot as a digital nomad, it’s this: “You have to embrace discomfort.”

And sure, living this lifestyle does mean stepping outside of your comfort zone. You have to navigate new cultures, figure out how to work from a noisy café while having an important call, start over in a new place every time, and all of that.

But it doesn’t always have to be that way.

Sometimes, as nomads, we stumble upon places that feel like home. Places where the chaos settles, and we feel at ease.

And you know what? That’s OK.

For me, those places have been Sofia (my home base), Ko Lanta (Thailand), Weligama (Sri Lanka), Sal (Cape Verde), and Puerto Escondido (Mexico).

Every time I find myself in one of these spots, something shifts.

The pace slows. I feel more grounded. And I stop feeling like I have to be in constant "explore mode".

The truth is, there’s no rulebook for being a digital nomad. You don’t have to keep moving to prove you’re living the lifestyle “right.” It’s OK to:

  • Stay in a place that makes you feel at home
  • Return to the same spot over and over if you love it
  • Let go of the pressure to always chase the next new thing

It’s easy to get caught up in the idea that being a nomad means constantly pushing your boundaries.

But sometimes, the best thing you can do is lean into comfort when you find it.

If you’ve ever felt the pressure to stay in motion, I hope this reminds you that there’s no “right” way to live this lifestyle. It’s your journey—do what feels best for you.
