2023 in a (nomad) backpack

Hey Freaking Nomads!

Can you believe another year is gone? Time flies when you're living the digital nomad dream, doesn't it?

As we say goodbye to this year, this is your moment to reflect on our journey as digital nomads - the good, the bad, and those terrible Wi-Fi connections that made us question our life choices.

I'm sure this year has been a wild ride for all of you, filled with unexpected twists and turns. Remember that time when we thought working from a hammock in Thailand was a good idea? Spoiler alert: it wasn't.

But hey, we learned that balancing a laptop on our knees lying on the beach while still trying to see anything at all on the screen is actually a skill! 😝

We've hopped from cafes to coworking spaces, each with its own unique brew of coffee and board games. We've mastered the art of the polite nod when locals ask us what we do, only to watch their eyes glaze over as we explain what the heck is a 'digital nomad'.

Ahhhh, good times!

But besides these (not so) humorous anecdotes, let's not forget the incredible places we've seen and the amazing people we've met along the way.

We've broadened our horizons, both literally and metaphorically. We've embraced new cultures, tried new foods we can't even pronounce, and learned a few words in various languages – mostly involving directions to the nearest local café or saying the local equivalent of "hi" while we bought some food at the grocery store.

We've become more adaptable, resilient, and open-minded. We've learned that the best places usually don't have a reliable Wi-Fi connection (or do they?) and that the best plans often come with a dose of spontaneity.

So, as we gear up for another year of adventures, at this point in the newsletter, we usually pack some practical tips for you to get the most out of your nomadic journey. But this time, we decided to share a video that we think will do a better job than us. It's coming from a creator who recently started his journey as a digital nomad and whom some of you might recognize. His name is Ali Abdal, and I hope you guys will enjoy this video as much as we did, as it contains a ton of tips to reflect on your 2023.

Here's to a fantastic year ahead filled with more laughter, learning, and unforgettable experiences.

Stay safe, and have an awesome 2024!

Luca
