Fail your way to success

Hey Freaking Nomads,

Luca here, one half of the duo behind this crazy adventure we call Freaking Nomads. As I sit down to write this week's newsletter, I can't help but think about the rollercoaster of emotions that come with this lifestyle. The highs are incredible – the freedom, the adventures, the constant discovery. But let's be real, the lows can feel pretty damn low.

We often talk about "making it" as digital nomads, about achieving that elusive idea of success. But what does success even mean in this context? Is it a six-figure income? A million followers? The perfect Instagram feed?

In the early days of my nomadic journey, I was obsessed with these external measures of success. I hustled, I chased opportunities, I burned the candle at both ends. And you know what? I achieved some of those goals. But guess what? It didn't feel the way I thought it would.

Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome.

I realized that my definition of success was all wrong. It wasn't about checking off boxes or reaching some arbitrary finish line. It was about the journey itself – the lessons learned, the experiences gained, the connections made.

Failure, too, is part of this journey. It's not the opposite of success, but rather a stepping stone towards it. Every stumble, every setback, every "failed" project has taught me something valuable. It's pushed me to grow, to adapt, to become a better version of myself.

Failure is not the end of the road. It's a detour, a chance to course-correct and find a new path.

I know it's not always easy to see the silver lining when things go wrong. Trust me, I've been there. But I encourage you to embrace the failures, to learn from them, to use them as fuel for your next adventure.

Remember, success and failure are not black and white. They're shades of gray, constantly shifting and evolving. Don't get so caught up in the destination that you forget to enjoy the journey.

The most successful nomads are not those who never fail, but those who embrace failure as a catalyst for growth.

So, keep exploring, keep experimenting, keep freaking nomadic. And don't be afraid to fail along the way. It's all part of the adventure.

Your fellow nomad,

Luca

I go to beach on my spare time, visit the night markets and island hop on the weekends! I’ve built an amazing community here and have also found ways to connect with the locals during my time on the island."
