What if it was about less, not more?

Hey friends,

Every year around this time, we see people setting big New Year’s resolutions: chase more goals, accomplish more things, live bigger and better lives.

But this year, I’ve been asking myself a different question:

What if it wasn’t about adding more? What if it was about letting go instead?

We Freaking Nomads are already good at chasing goals.

We’ve left behind the conventional, built lives on our terms, and constantly pushed ourselves to grow. But in that constant pursuit of “more,” it’s easy to forget that sometimes, less is more.

Instead of focusing on what I can do more of in the New Year, here’s what I’m focusing on letting go of:

  1. The need to do it all: There will always be more destinations to explore, more projects to start, and more goals to achieve. This year, I’m going to try to learn to prioritize what really matters and let go of the rest.
  2. The pressure to be “productive”: Not every moment has to be maximized. It’s OK to rest, to pause, and to simply enjoy the ride.
  3. Comparison: As digital workers, because we live and breathe online, it’s so easy to compare our journey to someone else’s. This year, I’m focusing on my own pace—because our story is ours alone.

When I think about resolutions, I realize they’re not just about becoming someone new. They’re about creating space for what matters most.

And sometimes, that means letting go of the pressure to constantly be “more”.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by resolutions or the pressure to achieve, I hope this reminds you that your path is yours. Do what feels best for you.

Hope this new year will be awesome and will bring you to places you never imagined you could end up.

See you in 2025,

Luca
